Eat Less with Bigger Fork: Research Says

According to a new study, to avoid over eating you can use bigger cutlery when you go to your preferred restaurant.

Persons who used bigger forks ate a lesser amount of food than the persons who used smaller forks, which is in accordance to the latest research revealed online.

The research was carried out in an Italian restaurant. From the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Himanshu Mishra, Arul Mishra and Tamara M. Masters took two sizes of forks for the diners at the restaurant. They found that the diners ate less food when they were given bigger forks and the diners who got smaller forks ate more as compared to diners who used bigger forks.

The researchers suggested that people who go to restaurant on a regular basis have a goal to fulfill their hunger. It makes them more eager to eat large amount of food.

In the research the researchers found that when large portion of food is served, diners who were given smaller forks ate more than the diners having bigger forks and when smaller portions are served the fork size does not had any effect on the quantity of food the diners ate.

The researchers find that their research was applicable on the customers who go to restaurant and not for the persons who take their meal at home as they may not have the same target as of the restaurant customers.

The researchers pointed that people should learn to eat according to their hunger cues and try to avoid binge eating.
